Artificial Grass Wimborne

Supplying and installing artificial grass across Wimborne, Dorset, and surrounding areas.

Looking for artificial grass in Wimborne that looks great all year round? Whether you’re tired of muddy patches, fed up with mowing, or want a low-maintenance option for pets and children, we can help. At South Coast Artificial Grass, we supply and install high-quality artificial lawns across Wimborne and the surrounding areas. They’re perfect for family gardens, rental properties, schools, and more.

Why Homes Can Benefit from Artificial Grass

Wimborne’s mix of traditional homes, modern builds, and family gardens makes it an ideal setting for artificial grass. We also work extensively across neighbouring areas such as Poole, Bournemouth, Christchurch, Ferndown, and throughout Dorset. Whether you’re located near the town centre or in the quieter surrounding villages, here’s why many local homeowners are making the switch:

Low-Maintenance Living

Tired of mowing, watering, or dealing with muddy patches? Artificial grass offers a consistently neat appearance without the usual upkeep – perfect for busy families or those who’d rather spend weekends enjoying their garden, not maintaining it.

Great for Shaded or Patchy Lawns

Many Wimborne gardens – especially those with tall trees or neighbouring buildings – struggle to grow healthy grass all year round. Artificial turf stays green and lush regardless of shade, footfall, or season.

Safe for Children and Pets

Our installations use non-toxic materials and excellent drainage, making them safe and hygienic for both kids and pets. No more muddy footprints through the house or patchy lawn damage from energetic dogs.

Won’t turn yellow or brown

Unlike natural grass, artificial turf won’t turn yellow or brown over time. It keeps its fresh, green appearance year after year, no matter how much it’s used or what the weather throws at it.

Ideal for Dorset’s Mixed Weather

With frequent rain and occasional dry spells, Wimborne’s climate can be tough on natural turf. Artificial grass drains quickly after rain and won’t dry out or brown in summer, giving you a useable lawn 12 months a year.

Perfect for Sloped or Uneven Gardens

Many gardens have sloped areas or uneven ground that can be difficult to mow and maintain. Artificial grass provides a neat, practical solution that stays in place and looks great, no more awkward trimming or patchy growth.

Based right here in Wimborne, we’re proud to supply and install high-quality artificial grass across the BH postcode area. From BH21 and BH22 through to surrounding Dorset villages, our team delivers expert workmanship with a friendly, local touch.

We understand the needs of Wimborne homeowners, whether you’re looking to upgrade a family garden, a shaded courtyard, or a sloped lawn. With years of experience serving the community, we’ve built a strong reputation for reliability and great results.

Our Process

1. Ground Preparation

We begin by removing the existing turf using a turf cutter or digger, ensuring we cut beneath the roots and strip the area back to bare soil. This gives us a clean, stable base to work from.

2. Edging and Base Layer

Next, we install any necessary perimeter edging or timber framework to shape and support the area. We then lay a base of 4–20mm limestone chippings, spread to an average depth of 50mm – ideal for most residential gardens. For commercial sites or areas with heavy clay or poor drainage, we may increase this to 100mm or more to ensure proper stability and water flow.

3. Compaction and Top Layer

Once the base is in place, we compact it using a vibrating plate compactor. A finer top layer of 2–6mm limestone is then added and compacted again to create a smooth, firm surface.

4. Weed Membrane and Grass Installation

We lay a durable, weed-resistant membrane to prevent unwanted growth. Your chosen artificial grass is then rolled out, cut to fit perfectly, and securely fixed into position using galvanised nails.

5. Final Touches

To finish, we power brush the grass to lift the fibres and give it a natural, freshly-laid look. For installations over decking or patio areas, we’ll use a foam underlay to prevent any patterns or joins from showing through.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does artificial grass last?

With proper installation and basic maintenance, our artificial grass products can last 10–15 years or more. The lifespan depends on the type of turf chosen and the level of foot traffic it receives.

Is artificial grass safe for pets and children?

Yes, absolutely. Many of our grass types are specifically designed to be pet-friendly and non-toxic. They’re soft underfoot and free from harmful chemicals, making them a safe and clean alternative to natural lawns.

Do I need to do any maintenance after installation?

Artificial grass is very low-maintenance. You’ll want to occasionally remove debris, brush the fibres to keep them upright, and rinse the area if needed. No mowing, feeding or frequent watering required.

Can artificial grass be installed on uneven ground or sloped gardens?

Yes. Our team is experienced in preparing uneven ground and can install artificial grass on sloped or awkward areas. We ensure proper drainage and secure fitting regardless of your garden’s shape.

Does artificial grass drain well in wet weather?

Definitely. Our installations include a permeable sub-base and membrane that allows rainwater to drain effectively, helping to prevent puddles and waterlogging – ideal for Wimborne’s variable weather.

Can I see samples before choosing a grass type?

Of course. We’re happy to show you samples of our most popular grass types during your consultation so you can feel the texture and see how each one looks in person. Get in touch to request a sample.
